While the Lucille Stewart Beeson Law Library has been closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, many questions have been asked concerning the availability of resources and services. The following are answers to some of those questions.

 

Unfortunately, because the law library is closed at this time, there is no way to check out any print materials. However, through the Online Library (a collection of databases), many materials (including e-books) are available for research and study.  Please take time to explore the many online resources that are available.

 

The law library is waiving all fines for all current students of Samford University which were accrued as of the date of the closing of the campus on March 16, 2020 and no fines will be imposed until the campus reopens and on-campus law classes have resumed. For additional information about fines, please read the blog post titled Library Fines and Returning Law Library Materials.

 

Yes, many study aids are available online. Three databases should be consulted for online study aids: LexisNexis Study Aids, West Academic Study Aids, and Wolters Kluwer Online Study Aid Library. Also, please take time to consult the law library’s Online Study Aids research guide (which is updated on a regular basis).

 

For many databases, you can log on with the same username and password that you use to log onto your Samford email. For other databases (such as Bloomberg, Lexis, and Westlaw), you will need to set up your own account and logon information.
