After the close of our physical campus in March, many students questioned what to do with the law library books and other materials that were left in their possession. They, also, questioned what to do about potential library fines. Gregory K. Laughlin, director of the Lucille Stewart Beeson Law Library, has developed a policy to address those issues: 

1. The law library is waiving all fines for all current students of Samford University which were accrued as of the date of the closing of the campus on March 16, 2020 and no fines will be imposed until the campus reopens and on-campus law classes have resumed. 

2. Samford University students who graduate before the campus reopens and on-campus law classes resume will still be responsible for returning any outstanding materials not later than 30 days after the campus reopens and on-campus law classes resume or for the cost of replacement of the materials if not returned within that time. 

3. Samford University students who do NOT graduate before the campus reopens and on-campus law classes resume will still be responsible for returning any outstanding materials not later than seven days after the campus reopens and on-campus law classes resume or for the cost of replacement of the materials if not returned within that time. 

4. Fines will begin accumulating on any unreturned items which are currently checked out by current Samford University student
   1. 30 days after the campus reopens and on-campus law classes resume as to borrowers who graduate before that date and
   2. 7 days after the campus reopens and on-campus law classes resume as to borrowers who do not graduate before that date.
