Maggie Corbitt, a senior journalism and mass communication major, is the owner of Corbitt & Co. Lakeside Apparel and Gear LLC. Launched in 2020, the brick and mortar store at Lake Guntersville, Alabama, now sells everything from waders, swimsuits and paddle boards, to name-brand clothing.
Samford Startup: Variety Washing
Grayson Birch, a sophomore management major, and Luke Ferris, a junior finance major, are owners of Variety Washing. Variety Washing originated as a summer job idea between Birch and Ferris but evolved into a serious business venture with significant growth, including increased revenue and the addition of employees.

Andrew Myers, a junior accounting major, is the owner of J.A. Myers. His participation in the Samford Startup Program has provided valuable connections, enhanced his confidence, and fostered a supportive environment for growth, all while envisioning his business as a recognized brand that positively impacts the Samford and Birmingham communities.

Caidan Maddux and Quinten Hall, sophomore business majors, are owners of Laudem Dei. Their company focuses on high-quality, biblically inspired clothing that encourages conversations about faith.

Camron Glover, a sophomore business major, is the owner of Collegiate Bed Loft Company. His company was inspired by homemade bed lofts that were discarded by parents and students while moving out of dorms.
Mitchell Receives Scholarship to Prepare for Prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst Exam
Jarad Mitchell, a senior finance major and Bulldog Investment Fund analyst in Brock School of Business, has been awarded a scholarship to prepare and sit for Level I of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam. The CFA designation is widely regarded as the most prestigious credential in the investment management profession.

Alex Dickey, a junior accounting major, is the owner of DormVault and a member in the Samford Startup student business incubator program. He founded DormVault after witnessing the challenges that Samford students faced when moving and storing their belongings.

Raynier Diaz, a senior architecture major, is the owner of Workbench. He started his company to gain practical experience in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application. The Samford Startup Program has provided him with invaluable mentorship, networking opportunities, and a supportive community that has helped him overcome challenges and envision his business as a leader in BIM software development.

Claire Lankford, a sophomore business major, is the owner of With love, Lank LLC. Her business began in high school as a thrift business and has evolved into a handmade clothing brand inspired by the message of love in Colossians 3:14.

Emma Ferrante, a senior graphic design major, is the owner of Art by Emma LLC and a member of the Samford Startup student business incubator program. She joined the Samford Startup program to enhance her entrepreneurial confidence and connect with mentors, all while aiming to make a positive impact through her faith-inspired art.

Sam Wilkerson, a senior interior design major, is the owner of Heart to Hand and an affiliate in the Samford Startup student business incubator program. Starting with handmade cards for loved ones, her business idea has now blossomed into a mission to impact everyone.

Mallory Matthews, a senior marketing major, is the owner of Mementos by Mallory and a resident in the Samford Startup student business incubator program. She blends art and strategy, crafting vibrant artwork that uplifts others. Mallory has the heart to help support families facing unexpected pregnancies, which has led to her donating 10% of her proceeds to help this cause.

Brandi Holley, assistant professor of accounting, won a Best Paper Award from the American Accounting Association’s Academy of Accounting Historians for her paper which memorializes Larzette Golden Hale, the first Black female certified public accountant to also earn a PhD in accounting.
