Samford University’s student chapter of Financial Management Association (FMA) has been named a Superior Chapter for the 2024–25 academic year, marking the fifth consecutive year it has received the honor.

The Superior Chapter designation is the highest recognition a student chapter can earn through Financial Management Association. Out of 175 chapters worldwide, fewer than 10% receive this distinction each year.

To be eligible, chapters must complete at least four of eight required activities, which include hosting a career fair, touring financial institutions, publishing a chapter newsletter and recruiting new members annually.

Under the guidance of associate professor Anna-Leigh Stone, FMA continues to provide students with opportunities for engagement, networking and professional development—extending learning well beyond the classroom.

Stone said, “In all honesty, it is the student officers who deserve the credit! President Charlie Mathews, vice president of events Ashley Allen, vice president of membership Christianna Hornigold and secretary and treasurer Elic Gum, were a great group of officers that arranged, promoted and held events. This award would not have possible without their hard work and dedication to FMA."

In addition to Samford’s FMA chapter, there are various undergraduate and graduate student organizations in Brock School of Business that provide professional development and fellowship.
