Take the Next Step Learn More

In upper-level cybersecurity courses, students receive targeted training in Security Management (risk assessment, policy, and regulatory compliance), Cyber Engineering (secure system design and configuration management), and Cyber Operations (incident response, threat detection, and security monitoring). Hands-on labs and real-world security incident analyses are woven throughout the curriculum.

Program Goals

The concentration in Cybersecurity blends theoretical foundations with practical applications and is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to protect digital assets and information systems from cyber threats.

The programmatic goals are to:
  • Develop a solid understanding of core cybersecurity principles.
  • Enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills in cybersecurity contexts.
  • Prepare students for real-world cybersecurity challenges through practical application and analysis.
  • Promote collaboration and teamwork among students.

Program Outcomes

Students will be able to:
  • Comprehend, evaluate, and apply foundational cybersecurity concepts, controls, and training strategies.
  • Implement and evaluate information security policies and frameworks.
  • Understand governance, risk management, and compliance in enterprise information security.
  • Implement and optimize information security toolsets through defense in depth concepts.
  • Integrate company and industry standards into secure system configurations.
  • Analyze and respond to cyberattacks.

Career Pathways

Graduates are positioned to:
  • Secure employment as an Information Security Analyst, Network Security Engineer, Digital Forensics Analyst, Security Software Developer, Application Security Engineer, or Cyber Intelligence Analyst;
  • Attend graduate school for masters or doctoral degrees in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or Information Security.
