Graduates are equipped to pursue careers in hardware design, systems integration, and embedded systems engineering, while upholding the highest standards of professional ethics and technical competence.

Program Goals

The concentration in Computer Engineering aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles and applications of computer hardware and software integration, preparing them for careers in hardware design, embedded systems, and systems integration.

The programmatic goals are to:
  • Develop a strong foundation in core engineering principles through coursework in differential and integral calculus, university physics, and introductory engineering.
  • Gain proficiency in the design and analysis of both analog circuits, digital circuits, and logic design.
  • Build expertise in data structures, algorithms, and operating systems to understand the software components critical to computer engineering.
  • Learn to design and analyze computer architecture, enabling students to develop efficient and scalable computing systems.
  • Engage in hands-on laboratory experiences and team-based projects to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings.
  • Enhance problem-solving and analytical skills to address complex engineering challenges and innovate in the development of new technologies.
  • Foster effective communication and teamwork abilities through collaborative projects and presentations, essential for success in multidisciplinary engineering environments.

Program Outcomes

Students will be able to:
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the analysis and application of differential and integral calculus, and university physics, to solve complex engineering problems.
  • Design, simulate, and analyze both analog and digital circuits, including the creation and testing of logic circuits and embedded systems.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate algorithms and data structures to optimize the performance of computing systems.
  • Understand and apply fundamental concepts of computer architecture to design efficient and scalable hardware solutions.
  • Utilize operating systems principles to manage hardware resources, develop low-level software, and troubleshoot system-level issues.
  • Integrate hardware and software components to develop and prototype embedded systems and digital devices.
  • Work effectively in multidisciplinary teams to design, develop, and test engineering projects, demonstrating project management skills and meeting technical specifications and deadlines.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively through written reports, presentations, and discussions with diverse audiences.
  • Apply ethical reasoning and professional standards in engineering practice, considering the societal impact and sustainability of technology solutions.

  • Secure employment as Computer Hardware Engineer, Computer Software Engineer, Embedded Systems Engineer, Digital Design Engineer, Systems Engineer, Network Engineer, Firmware Developer, and Research and Development Engineer;
