Trophy Case

This year the selection competition for the 2020-21 Herbert W. Peterson National Trial Team Selection Competition, sponsored by White Arnold & Dowd, will be conducted virtually and in compliance with social distancing requirements.

Students will submit a video opening and cross-examination according to the schedule below: 

May 8 by 12 p.m. - Problem released

May 15 by 12 p.m. - Video Openings submitted

May 22 by 12 p.m. - Video Cross Examinations submitted

May 26 - Announcement of those advancing to coaches round

June 6 and June 7 - Coaches Round on Zoom

June 7 - Announcement of those making the team

On May 8, the same day the problem is released, video lectures on conducting opening statement and cross-examination will also be released. Additional competition instructions, such as how to submit videos and competition rules, will also be distributed at that time. 

Cumberland's National Trial Team is one of the premier trial teams in the U.S., ranking #7 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report (2021).

All students interested in the trial team and/or litigation practice are encouraged to participate in this competition.
