In addition to coping with the stress and anxiety that goes along with being a law student, the pandemic and the current political climate can add stresses that require extra attention. By searching the library’s online catalog, books about overcoming stress, anxiety, and burnout can be found. Also, there is useful information about spirituality, meditation, and finding work-life balance. Articles about self-care and wellness can be found by searching within the law library’s online databases.
If you need any assistance with locating materials from the Lucille Stewart Beeson Law Library, please contact a librarian by sending an email to lawref@samford.edu. However, even though librarians are experts at finding information, we are NOT experts at dealing with stress and anxiety.
If you need to connect with an expert who can help you to discover solutions for coping with stress and anxiety, we strongly encourage you to consult the following campus resources:
The goal of the program is to assist Cumberland students with academic success, professionalism, and life balance through workshops, events, resources, individual sessions, and mentoring groups. In addition to academic information and resources that are provided for current students, bar exam information is provided for graduates. Wellness information and resources are provided for the entire Cumberland community.
Trained professionals are available to provide services including, but not limited to, evaluation, exploratory psychotherapy, crisis intervention, educational wellness programming, and referrals. Staff are available on an online/virtual basis. Please visit the office’s website to learn more about the many services provided.
Through the office, virtual campus services are held each week. Staff, also, work to coordinate programs and activities to provide opportunities for study and spiritual growth. Learn more at the office’s website.
In partnership with Ascension St. Vincent’s, health care services are provided on campus to students and employees of Samford University. University Health Services is a “fully-functional health care facility providing primary care, preventive health care and wellness services.” Visit the website to learn more.
Remember that you don’t have to figure things out on your own. Talk to someone who can help.
