In celebration of Women’s History Month, the last Check It Out post, which was published on Monday, March 14, 2022, highlighted The Centennial of Cumberland Women: A Narrative Account of the Progress of Education of Women in the South, a resource that presents information about the roles of women at Cumberland University (where Cumberland School of Law was founded) between the years of 1893 and 1993. HeinOnline’s Women and the Law (Peggy)
Named after Margaret (Peggy) Marmion, the mother of Hein’s CEO, this database contains over one million pages of works dedicated to exploring the role of women in society and the law. The goal of the collection is to provide researchers with the ability to examine the progression of women’s roles and rights over the past 200 years. It includes more than 3,200 fully searchable titles.
 
Celebrating Women’s History Month (American Bar Association)
The ABA has created a resource page designed to recognize Women’s History Month. Content links on the page include:
  • International Women’s Day Webinar: The theme of the webinar, which can be found on YouTube, is “Ending Gender-Based Violence and Harassment in the World of Work.”
  • Women in the Profession: According to the ABA’s website, “The mission of the American Bar Association Commission on Women in the Profession is to secure full and equal participation of women in the ABA, the profession and the justice system.”
  • 21 Day Grit & Growth Mindset Challenge: This challenge consists of short daily activities designed to educate about the science behind developing the traits of grit and growth.
  • Women Leading the Way: Here, you can find information about women trailblazers in the legal profession.
 
Cumberland Women in Law
Celebrate and support the women of Cumberland School of Law as they prepare to make history in the legal profession. According to the law school’s Student Organizations page “The Cumberland School of Law chapter of Women in Law is a source of support, information, and networking opportunities for current female law students. The organization strives to create an environment where an informed dialogue on issues of women, law, and society is encouraged and analyzed and to increase the community’s awareness of legal, political, and social issues, emphasizing women’s perspectives.” You can follow the organization on their social pages:
