Please join the Lucille Stewart Beeson Law Library in congratulating Della Holland Darby who will be retiring from her position as metadata librarian at the end of April.
While at the Beeson Law Library, Della has been instrumental in organizing, preserving, and providing access to serials, electronic resources, and archival materials. She arrived at Samford in the year 2000, when she became chair of the University Library’s Reference Department. Since that time, she has also served as chair of the University Library’s Cataloging Department, and as director of the Samford Institute for Genealogy & Historical Research (IGHR). She joined the Beeson Law Library in 2011.
When asked what she will miss most about working at Samford, Della replied, “My colleagues and student employees have been a blessing! I am thankful to have worked with so many talented and wonderful colleagues over the years. I have, also, enjoyed the many professional and personal development opportunities that helped me to grow as a librarian and as a person.”
After retirement, Della will take more time to enjoy family research, travel, gardening, fiber arts and reading.
Della Holland Darby, you are appreciated, and you will be missed. We wish you joy and pure happiness as you begin your next adventure!
