Carlissa Carson, assistant professor at Samford University's Cumberland School of Law, has been featured in The Washington Times’ article “9/11 was 24 years ago and the U.S. is still at war” marking the 24th anniversary of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Drawing from her scholarship, including her article “Restoring the Balance of War Powers: A Call to Repeal and Replace the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force” published in the San Diego Law Review, Carson provided expert commentary on the enduring impact of the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF). Her insights highlight the need for legislative reform and a recalibration of executive war powers in the post-9/11 era.

At Cumberland School of Law, Carson teaches military justice courses. In addition to teaching law, Carson is a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force (Air National Guard) and serves as the staff judge advocate for the 117th Air Refueling Wing in Birmingham, Alabama.
