Cumberland School of Law’s Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program has been in existence for almost 40 years and provides numerous opportunities for attorneys to learn and increase their skills. In light of COVID-19, CLE switched gears to provide timely and up-to-date courses in response to practicing law during a pandemic. Using an all-virtual platform, Cumberland’s CLE continued to provide attorneys with the option to receive live, updated CLE content. We also broadened our catalog of on-demand courses to specifically address practice issues that arose because of the pandemic.
We are fortunate to be able to provide quality programs with the expertise of our planning committees made up of volunteer lawyers. Our national and local speakers include lawyers, judges and other professionals. They generously share their time and knowledge to help other attorneys. If there are any silver linings in a pandemic, it is that we have been able to include not only more national speakers this year, but international experts, too. Cumberland will continue to provide first class CLE programs while adjusting as necessary to whatever conditions merit.
Linda D. Connor is a graduate of Birmingham-Southern College and Cumberland School of Law. While a student at Cumberland, she was a member of the American Journal of Trial Advocacy. Before being appointed to her current role in 2011, she was the staff attorney and then the director of Cumberland’s Center for the Study of Law and the Church. She advised religious entities and other nonprofit organizations. Connor was a regular guest speaker at Beeson Divinity School on legal issues that affect churches and church employees.
Thank You
