Two science and religion discussion groups for adults begin this week at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church (1114 Oxmoor Rd, Homewood, AL, 35209).
Beginning Wednesday, January 23rd, Dr. Paul Atchison will lead a weekly series of discussions on neurologist Oliver Sacks’ fascinating book The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat. This book provides a unique way to think about the relationship between mind, body, soul, consciousness, and free will. Meetings will begin at 6:15 p.m. in room 252N.
Beginning Thursday, January 24th, Dr. Rogers Redding will lead a weekly series of discussions on Francis Collins’ popular book The Language of God. Collins (who spearheaded the human genome project and currently heads the National Institutes of Health) describes his journey to Christianity and explains how there need be no conflict between Christianity and science, even on historically contentious issues. Meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m. in room 254N.
Visitors are welcome at any session.
