In today's health care landscape, patient experience has emerged as a crucial component in shaping the overall perception of health care delivery.
The study Foundational Patient Experience: Analyzing 10 Years of Patient Experience Research by Courtney Haun, assistant professor and director of Samford University's undergraduate health care administration program, was recently published in the latest issue of Patient Experience Journal (PXJ). PXJ is an international, open-access, peer-reviewed publication focused on research and proven practices related to understanding and improving patient experience.
"This study is particularly special as it was conducted alongside my PhD dissertation chair and mentor, Dr. Geoffrey Silvera, whom I now consider a colleague and friend,” said Haun. “By analyzing over 12,000 references across 515 articles in the Patient Experience Journal from 2014 to 2023, we identified the top 10 most cited works. This analysis highlights key influences in PX scholarship and offers valuable insights for the future of the field."
Haun joins a group of researchers, health care professionals, patients, family members and policymakers as contributors in leading research that impacts the delivery of service, safety and quality and their influence on the experience of patients, residents and families across health care settings.
