Samford University's McWhorter School of Pharmacy honored its third-year Doctor of Pharmacy students at its annual professional pinning ceremony on February 16.
This significant milestone recognizes students transitioning from a predominately classroom environment to advanced pharmacy practice experience. It is a testament to how Samford ensures lasting success through steadfast adherence to its mission of preparing pharmacists who transform lives.
Keith Foster, PharmD, a graduate of Samford University and medical liaison for CareDx, provided the keynote address. He encouraged the class of 2025 to learn as much as they can during this next phase of their education.
"Medicine is a whole world beyond knowing the mechanisms of reactions and side effects. The more that you understand the context, the more apt you are going to be to serve your team," Foster said.
"God has equipped you with a pen to write with and my challenge to you is to run until the ink runs dry," he continued. "Be grateful. Be on time. Be present. Take care of yourself. Be curious. Be confident."
Third-year pharmacy student Anisha Jackson is this year's Cardinal Health Annual Independent Pharmacy Scholarship recipient. Established in 2012 by Cardinal Health, the award provides a full-tuition scholarship for the final year of pharmacy school. Patrick Stewart, pharmacy business consultant for Cardinal Health was present to make the announcement.
