Samford University’s McWhorter School of Pharmacy hosted its annual school picnic, September 20, at Oak Mountain State Park. Students, faculty and staff, as well as their canine friends, were invited for a morning of fun, followed by a barbecue lunch sponsored by CVS Pharmacy and McKesson.
Leaders in the school’s 12 student organizations organized the morning’s games, which included volleyball, relay races, tug-of-war and more. Each class competed against the others, gaining points with each game.
“The school’s annual picnic is such a fun opportunity for students to spend time with their classmates and the school’s faculty and staff outside of the classroom,” said Renee Dehart, professor and associate dean for Student Affairs. “It’s a highlight for many of our students, and it has become a beloved tradition within our school, spanning more than 25 years.”
At the end of the morning of competition, the class with the most points is awarded the Bumgarner Cup. This year’s winners were the third-year students in the Class of 2021.
