Three new members have joined the Samford University Board of Trustees. Tracey Morant Adams, Timothy C. Davis and Brian E. George—all of whom are Samford alumni—were elected during the university’s Board of Trustees meeting in September.

A glimpse at their bios:  

Tracey Morant Adams, MBA ’92, is a native of Birmingham, Alabama, who serves as Renasant Bank’s senior executive vice president and chief officer of community development and corporate social responsibility. Among her leadership duties, she directs diversity initiatives throughout the company’s corporate footprint.

Adams earned a bachelor of science degree in business management from the University of Montevallo and a master’s degree in business administration from Samford. She performed extensive post-graduate work in quantitative analysis at Temple University and economic development training from the Georgia Institute of Technology. She earned a doctorate in educational leadership, policy, law and research from Alabama State University.

Involved with multiple professional organizations and various civic boards and agencies, Adams previously served as a trustee of Talladega College. She is a 2008 graduate of Leadership Birmingham and a 2009 graduate of Momentum Leadership. She is a life member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and has received numerous awards for her influence on community and economic development.

Adams, and her husband Jeff are members of New Pilgrim Baptist Church residing in Shelby County, Alabama.

Timothy C. Davis, JD ’84, is a founding partner of the law firm Heninger Garrison Davis LLC, having served as the managing partner since the firm’s formation in 2006.

His focus in law practice has been on complex civil litigation for the entirety of his 40-year career. He has provided counsel to, and advocacy for, individuals with catastrophic injuries, property owners and communities harmed by toxic waste, and business owners seeking to protect their contractual relationships and intellectual property rights. Davis has represented individuals or businesses in courtrooms throughout the Southeast, as well as in the states of New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Delaware, Texas, Minnesota and California.

He earned a bachelor of science degree from Florida State University and graduated from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law.

Davis and his wife Julia reside in Mountain Brook, Alabama, where they are members of the Brookwood Baptist Church.

Brian E. George, ’88, MBA ’97, of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, is an assistant treasurer for Alabama Power Company. His team is responsible for development and implementation of all budgeting and long-range financial planning for Alabama Power and SEGCo. George previously served as the assistant to the executive vice president, CFO and treasurer of Alabama Power Company.

After three years of work experience with a certified public accounting firm, Brian began working for Sonat Inc. in 1991. During 10 years with Sonat, he held various positions in internal audit, treasury services, strategic planning, and interstate pipeline transmission.

George joined Southern Company in October 2001 as a senior fuel buyer in natural gas procurement.

George has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in business administration from Samford University. He recently served as a member of the board of directors of the Brother Bryan Mission, a shelter for homeless men in downtown Birmingham.

George and his wife Gina are active members of the Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Homewood, Alabama.
