As spring graduates strive to begin their careers while facing the uncertainty of a job market struck by COVID-19, the Samford University Alumni Association is working to meet student needs. 

Tapping into the network of more than 52,000 worldwide, Samford is encouraging alumni to submit job openings and internship opportunities to the Career Development Center. The office is compiling the available positions and sharing with students weekly. 

“Samford graduates have a track record of providing significant value to the organizations they join as they begin their professional career,” said Randy Pittman, Samford’s Vice President for University Advancement. “Helping them to find opportunities in a challenging job market is among the many ways our Samford alumni are providing crucial assistance during this difficult time.”

To post a job through Samford’s Career Development Center, employers and hiring managers can easily register through a brief form on Hire Samford, the university’s online job board. Samford’s Career Development Center sends a list of newly posted job openings via email to May 2020 graduates and other students. 

Additionally, the Alumni Association has many other upcoming opportunities to connect the newest group of alumni to its network, including two virtual connection events, May 26 and 29. New and existing alumni are also invited to join the Samford University Alumni LinkedIn Group. The group currently has more than 3,000 members. 

“Our alumni have consistently gone above and beyond to show their support of Samford, and we know our newest graduates will benefit greatly from taking the initiative to connect with this network,” Pittman said.
