Samford University’s Ida Moffett School of Nursing recognized the many accomplishments of the school’s nursing students at its annual awards ceremonies. Student scholarships and awards were presented at two separate events, one for undergraduate students and one for graduate students.
“We are immensely proud of all our honorees,” said Nena F. Sanders, College of Health Sciences vice provost and Ida Moffett School of Nursing dean. “We have watched these students perfect their craft and master both the art and science of nursing. They have each grown to emulate the characteristics of our namesake Ida Moffett.”
The undergraduate nursing awards ceremony was held April 26. The Baptist Health System Awards, individual awards and outstanding faculty award were presented at the ceremony. Additionally, 24 graduating diplomats, honor medal and academic achievement recipients were recognized.
Graduate nursing students were honored at a ceremony on May 2. In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Doctor of Nursing Practice program, DNP students received awards for their final research projects at this ceremony. Marcia Sotelo received the overall award for her research on improving post-surgical pain assessment and management on an orthopedic unit.
