Samford University’s School of Health Professions has received candidacy status for its Doctor of Audiology program from the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA).
Enrollment has already begun for the growing program which will see its first class of students in the fall of this year. The School of Health Professions has a growing list of graduate programs including speech pathology, physical therapy, athletic training, physician assistant studies and occupational therapy.
“This milestone is a testament to the hard work and dedication of all the faculty and staff of our department, as well as all those who have supported us along the way,” said Margaret Johnson, professor, and chair of the Department of Communication and Sciences Disorders. “Our goal is to continue to provide the education and training our students require to serve others in their field.” Together with Hollea Ryan, also a professor in the department, the two developed the program.
With a focus on service, Samford’s Doctor of Audiology program is a four-year graduate degree program. Students will participate in opportunities and experiences preparing them for lifelong learning in their field alongside other health care professionals in the College of Health Sciences, an environment designed for interprofessional education and collaboration.
