The Samford Art Gallery continues its year-long theme of celebrating the work of Samford alumni with the new Cliff Bell photography exhibit. It will be open to the public until Nov. 17 with a reception on Nov. 10 from 4-6 p.m. as part of Samford’s homecoming weekend.

Bell graduated from Samford in 2010 and has used his camera to document his extensive travels.

He said, “It is an honor to return to Samford and showcase some of my favorite photographs from my travels. As part of my education at the university, I studied photography for my fine arts minor curriculum and did a travel focus study of Birmingham, Alabama.  From that study, I defined my penchant for epic vistas, unique architecture, and a sense of ‘place’ that captures the soul of that location through landscape or structure.”

The exhibit features some of Bell’s favorite images from his American travels. He celebrates the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service with shots of places within that system.

Bell added, “This nation is incredibly beautiful and diverse in its landscapes and cities.  As a photographer and traveler in general this is a true joy to experience.”

His goal is to visit all 50 states before he reaches 30.

The Samford Art Gallery is located in Swearingen Hall and is open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
