Samford University is hosting an exhibit of artwork by middle and high school students from Birmingham-area public school districts. The works of the Visual Arts Achievement Program Juried Exhibition are displayed in the Samford Art Gallery in Swearingen Hall. The exhibition is sponsored by the Alabama State Council on Arts and the Alabama Art Supply.
“The state show is a wonderful opportunity to highlight the extremely talented young people we have in our state, and it often encourages them to further pursue their art,” said Mary Ann Culotta, Samford adjunct instructor in art who organizes this annual event.
There will be a closing reception March 12 at 3 p.m., where honors and awards will be given to students. The winner will compete in Montgomery at the statewide level.
The gallery is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
