Samford University's Office of Alumni Programs is establishing regional chapters across the U.S., and the first two events are scheduled in August.
The first chapters are being established in five cities: Birmingham, Ala; , Atlanta, Ga.; Nashville, Tenn.; Montgomery, Ala.; and Washington D.C. The Nashville and Montgomery Alumni Chapters will have their first official launch events during August.
The leadership team for the Montgomery Alumni Chapter will host an event Aug. 6 at Montgomery's Riverwalk Stadium. Individuals in the River Region can register at www.montgomerychapterlaunch.eventbrite.com.
The Nashville Alumni Chapter will host an event Aug. 8 at the Listening Room Café, 217 Second Avenue S. Nashville area alumni can register at www.nashvillechapterlaunch.eventbrite.com.
According to alumni office representatives, these chapters are for all alumni looking to stay connected with Samford in their community.
"Chapters are a great way for alumni to stay updated on Samford events and network with other alumni in the area," said Assistant Director of Alumni Programs Elizabeth Gettys, a 2012 graduate. Gettys is coordinating the chapter program for the office.
These launch events are a great way to learn more about how to get involved as a chapter member, Gettys explained. There are no dues or fees required to participate in the program, and alumni of all ages are welcome.
"We're excited to be developing this for our alumni," Gettys said. "These five cities are a great foundation for us to build off of as the program continues to grow."
