Samford University’s Beeson Divinity School will hold commencement activity Friday, Dec. 10, at 11 a.m. in Andrew Gerow Hodges Chapel.
Degrees will be awarded to five doctor of ministry degree candidates, 17 master of divinity degree candidates and one master of theological studies degree candidate.
Julius R. Scruggs, pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church in Huntsville, Ala., and president of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., will deliver the sermon. Dr. Scruggs, the author of four books on worship and social consciousness topics, has served the Huntsville church since 1977. He was elected to the National Baptist leadership post in 2009.
The program will include a prayer of consecration by James Earl Massey, dean emeritus and distinguished professor-at-large, Anderson University School of Theology, and the traditional blessing of the graduates by the Beeson faculty.
Fall commencement activity for other Samford graduates will be held Saturday, Dec. 18, at 10 a.m. in Wright Center Concert Hall.
