Two Samford University interior design majors have won awards in recent student competition sponsored by the Alabama chapter of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA).
Leah Shell, a senior from Raleigh, N.C., won second place and a $1,000 cash prize for her project in furniture design.
Leah Mann, a senior from Gardendale, won third place and $500 cash prize for her thesis project related to a proposed design of a restaurant for Vulcan Park.
The students' professor, Jeannie Krumdieck, was recognized for her work as design consultant for Krumdieck A+I Design, which won Best of Residential and Best of Show awards in the professional category.
The competition is held every two years by the IIDA state chapter to recognize outstanding design achievement.
