Defense attorney Thomas A. Mesereau, Jr., of Los Angeles, Calif., will speak at Samford University's Cumberland School of Law Thursday, Jan. 25, as a feature of the Cordell Hull Speakers Forum.
Mesereau, who successfully defended entertainer Michael Jackson in a sensational 2005 trial, will speak at 4 p.m. in Samford's Robinson Hall courtroom. The program is open to the public.
The noted defense attorney once achieved eight acquittals and two hung juries in a one-year period. A partner in the Los Angeles firm of Mesereau & Yu, LLP, he is a graduate of Harvard University, London School of Economics and the University of California law school.
Mesereau is also known for his pro bono work in the African-American community. He has been named one of the "Top Men of the Year" by GQ Magazine and one of Barbara Walters' "10 Most Fascinating People."
