Samantha Chambers of Northport and Tyler Dillard of Dothan were named outstanding female and male participants at this year's Alabama Governor's School, which concluded June 27 at Samford University.

Chambers, daughter of John and Janet Chambers, attends Tuscaloosa Academy.

Dillard, son of Kenneth Dillard and Faye Dillard, attends Northside Methodist Academy.

They were chosen by AGS students, faculty and staff on the basis of their overall participation and interest. They were among 78 rising seniors from 52 high schools in 29 counties who attended the two-week honors program at Samford.

Participants enjoyed college-level experience in academics, creativity and leadership, as well as field trips to museums and sporting events.
