Frank Minter, Executive-in-Residence at the Samford University School of Business, has been named one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting for 2002 by Accounting Today newspaper.

Minter, a former corporate controller at AT&T, is immediate past president of the Institute of Management Accountants. His tenure "helped usher in an era of providing global leadership" in education, certification and the practice of management accounting, said Accounting Today.

After a career in accounting with South Central Bell and AT&T, Minter taught in the Samford School of Business during 1988-98 before becoming Executive-in-Residence.

He began his career as an accountant with Southern Bell Telephone in 1953 and rose through the ranks with Southern Bell and BellSouth. He was Vice President and Comptroller for AT&T during 1982-84 and Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for AT&T International during 1984-87.

Minter is a Trustee of the Financial Accounting Foundation. He is a graduate of The Citadel with an M.B.A. from the University of Memphis.
