USA TODAY Homefront has published its 2024 report on affordable housing statistics. In the article, USA TODAY interviewed real estate and financial experts from across the country, including Howard Finch, the Sara J. Krawczak Chair in Financial Management and former dean at Samford University’s Brock School of Business.
The article highlights affordable housing trends, the most affordable and least affordable housing markets, affordable housing for low-income families, seniors and veterans, and how to find affordable housing. In a section featuring experts, Finch responds to the question “Will Gen Z or Millennials be able to afford a home in the next 5 years?”.
At Samford, Finch teaches undergraduate courses in real estate and investments, and the MBA managerial finance course. His scholarship focuses on applied finance topics, real estate valuation and finance, and finance pedagogy. His work has appeared in numerous academic and applied journals, including the Journal of Housing Research, the Journal of Real Estate Practice and Education, the Appraisal Journal, the Journal of Economics and Finance Education, and the Journal of Education for Business.
