Bart Barber, president of the Southern Baptist Convention, will visit Beeson Divinity School on Feb. 12, 2024, as part of the school’s Thriving Pastors Initiative.
During his visit, Barber will speak with Beeson students about future opportunities and challenges for ministry in Southern Baptist churches during a lunch Q&A. While that portion of Barber’s visit is closed to the public, Barber will host a public discussion on the ministry of promoting unity amidst diversity at 3 p.m. in Hodges Chapel, followed by a Q&A session.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to host Dr. Bart Barber at Beeson Divinity School,” said Beeson Associate Dean Tom Fuller. “Dr. Barber is a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ in his role as pastor at First Baptist Church, Farmersville, Texas, and as president of the Southern Baptist Convention. We’re eager for students preparing for pastoral ministries to enjoy fellowship with him and to glean from him godly wisdom for their journeys of service to Christ’s church. We’re also happy for other pastoral leaders to hear words of encouragement from Dr. Barber as they strive to be faithful ministers of the gospel in some difficult times and circumstances.”
Barber has served as the pastor of First Baptist Church in Farmersville, Texas, since 1999. At the 2022 SBC Annual Meeting in Anaheim, California, Barber was elected President of the Southern Baptist Convention.
