Samford architecture students gain the tools to enter the field with design skills to enhance the world around them. The architecture program at Samford combines a 4-year Bachelor of Science in Architecture with a one-year Master of Architecture, providing an accelerated degree in preparation for a rewarding career in design. The program has applied for eligibility of accreditation with the NAAB.
Samford offers a CIDA accredited interior design program that graduates students with a unique professional perspective. Students study art as the foundation of the design process. Through the university’s collective curriculum offerings and Christian mission, students gain an appreciation not only for all aspects of design but also view the world through a faith-based lens.
“Samford has helped me have more confidence in articulating my design ideas.”—Joe Turner, interior design major

Studio Culture, Diversity and Inclusion
The mission of the Department of Architecture & Interior Design is to foster a collaborative culture integrating aesthetic values with a responsible design approach to the built environment which shapes and influences society for good.
We strive for all members of our community to share fundamental values of respect, inclusivity, engagement, optimism, creativity, innovation, and collaboration. The design studio is at the core of the Architecture and Interior Design education at Samford.
Our Studio Culture is organized around four primary principles: Respect, Diversity and Inclusion, Collaboration, Health and Wellness.
Our faculty are committed to bringing students the best quality educational experiences. Due to the technological nature of architecture and interior design, it is necessary for students to have a personal computer which is able to support creative software. This requirement allows students to work independently and integrate digital technologies into their learning.
