There is no portfolio requirement for students applying to study Art & Design or Architecture & Interior Design. However, students with a portfolio are highly encouraged to submit via the Art, Architecture & Design Scholarship.
How to Apply

Start by submitting your university application and selecting a major in either Art & Design or Architecture & Interior Design. - Access the Scholarship Application
Once you apply to Samford, you’ll get access to your personalized Application Status Page, where you can complete the Art, Architecture & Design Scholarship application. Deadline: February 15, 2026 - Submit Your Scholarship Application
The scholarship is optional and competitive—but submitting a portfolio gives you the opportunity to be considered for additional funding.

What to Submit
- Short Answer Questions
Complete all required questions within the scholarship application. - Academic/Artistic Resume
Include any coursework or experience in art, architecture, or design. (This can be the same resume you used for your university application.) - Digital Portfolio
Submit 5–12 images of your strongest creative work.- Art & Design: Any medium is welcome. Include at least one drawing.
- Architecture & Interior Design: Focus on scale drawings, 3D models, or design-specific projects.
Portfolio Tips
- Use high-resolution photos
- Make sure your work is well lit
- For 2D work, crop the background
- For 3D work, use a clean, solid background

Schedule a Campus Visit
The Office of Admission offers on campus visit options most weekdays and some Saturdays. If you would like to schedule an appointment with faculty, staff, current students or sit in on a class within the Department of Art & Design or Department of Architecture & Interior Design while visiting campus, we recommend scheduling a visit between Monday and Thursday. You may request personalized academic appointments when scheduling your campus visit.
