Geoffrey Glaub Academy

Geoffrey Glaub brought joy to many during his life cut short by liver cancer in 2008.  He is remembered fondly by Samford’s Academy of the Arts where his parents set up a memorial scholarship in his honor to encourage young students to develop his or her talents in music.  Each year, friends continue to contribute to this memorial.  Recently, the Academy received a gift from boys from Mountain Brook High School’s class of 2017, many of whom went to school with Geoffrey at Crestline Elementary.

“Geoffrey continues to be a part of the Academy through gifts from such wonderful friends,” said Connie Macon, coordinator of the Academy of the Arts.  She recalls that Geoffrey attended Adventures in Music camp one last time before he went to Children’s Hospital for the remainder of his life.

He participated in Academy camps every summer from a young age and took piano lessons from the time he was 5.  His family continues to participate in programs offered through the Academy.  It was their hope that the scholarship could help more than one child each year.

Samford’s Academy is grateful to the Glaub family and all of those individuals and friends who continue to honor Geoffrey’s memory with a gift.
