Dr. Charles Ford is a professor in the Department of Architecture & Interior Design, teaching in the areas of Building Systems, Digital Communication, Historic Preservation, and Sustainable Design. Prior to joining Samford University in 2005, he taught eight years in secondary and post-secondary education. Prior to teaching Dr. Ford’s professional experience spanned seven years, where he worked in architectural, civil and environmental engineering firms. Currently, Dr. Ford engages in research which includes research in image-based inquiry, vernacular architecture of Alabama, and design education pedagogical practice. His most recent research are published in the International Journal of Design Education as well as the Library of Congress.
