Athletics

The university fields 17 NCAA Division I varsity sports—eight men’s and nine women’s—that compete in the historic Southern Conference. Ranked first in Alabama, Samford’s athletic teams earned a 98% Graduation Success Rate (GSR) by the NCAA.

Lennie Acuff Named Samford Head Men's Basketball Coach

Alabama native Lennie Acuff has been named the head coach for the Samford University men's basketball program. Announced Wednesday by Director of Athletics Martin Newton, Acuff becomes the 30th head coach in Bulldogs program history.
