Jardin Friedl, a rising-senior Human Development and Family Science (HDFS) major in Samford University’s Orlean Beeson School of Education, comes from a family of entrepreneurs. When the opportunity came to take over one of Birmingham, Alabama’s, most popular flower vendors, she and her mother jumped at the opportunity.

Wild Honey Flower Truck is a staple in the Birmingham community. The signature blue truck has been found around the city peddling fresh flowers since 2018. Customers can come by the truck and put together their own personalized bouquets for themselves or a loved one.

“I have been a longtime lover of the truck,” shared Friedl. “I would plan my weekends around the pop-up schedule so I could have fresh flowers in my dorm. My mom had been toying with the idea of creating a flower truck business in my hometown. Shortly after she told me this, we saw Wild Honey Flower Truck was for sale. It was such surreal timing that my mom and I just couldn’t think of a bigger sign from God.”

Since purchasing the business, a second truck has been added to expand their reach. This summer, Friedl and her mom, Bree, are working on a schedule to pop up regularly around Birmingham-area suburbs, Homewood and Mountain Brook. They’re also part of different festivals and events around the city with opportunities to rent the truck for private events or photo sessions.

Friedl’s passion and work ethic extend to the classroom. When asked about her Samford experience, Friedl exalted her department and professors in Orlean Beeson School of Education.

“I adore Samford. I need to brag about my department because when I think of Samford, I think of how much I love my classes,” shared Friedl. “It is hard work but the professors in HDFS care so much for our wellbeing. They come in class everyday ready to share knowledge but also learn from their students through class discussion. I just think that is so unique compared to any other college experience. I have a real passion for what I am studying and my education at Samford helps drive that.”
