What Will I Learn?

The Global Studies curriculum provides a solid foundation in global topics and approaches through two introductory courses focusing on world history and related fields such as geography, political science and world languages.

In this program, you will...

  • Learn about the countries and cultures that comprise our world and the systems and processes that connect them together.
  • Learn how to analyze ideas and theories that make sense of our world.
  • Gain tools on how to contribute to the greater good of those you serve.

Our program emphasizes experiential, hands-on learning, offering diverse pathways for completion, such as internships or studying abroad. Your academic journey will culminate in a research-based, writing-intensive capstone seminar, allowing you to apply your knowledge in a meaningful way.

What Makes Us Different?

Experiential Learning

We’re committed to providing a hands-on education because we know the most important lessons are often learned outside the classroom. Our Global Studies majors have the opportunity to travel the world and immerse themselves in the study of different places and cultures.

One-on-One Mentoring

Our small class sizes make it possible for students to be mentored by our faculty on a personal and professional level. We provide personalized advising to explore careers and talk about preparation. Faculty are also engaged in student internships.

Empowering Community

Our faculty are exceptional scholars, leaders and mentors who are deeply committed to your growth and achievement and provide unwavering support throughout your academic journey. As part of such an attentive and distinguished community, you will be empowered to advance your future both personally and professionally.

Prepared to Succeed

With Samford ranked #10 in the nation for career preparation by the Wall Street Journal, we ensure you graduate with skills that will not only prepare you for any future career, but they will also empower you to serve communities.
