Samford University’s Colloquium on American Citizenship will host a free public lecture by Carl Trueman Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. in the Regions Room of Brock School of Business. Trueman is professor of biblical and religious studies at Grove City College, and author of The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self: Cultural Amnesia, Expressive Individualism, and the Road to Sexual Revolution, hailed by political commentator Ben Shapiro as " the most important book of our moment."
The lecture, supported by a grant from the Jack Miller Center, is the second event hosted by the colloquium, which aims to explore the meaning and purpose of citizenship in light of the Western intellectual heritage, American Constitutional government, free market economics and Judeo-Christian ideals. James R. Stoner, Jr. presented the first lecture in October.
