Samford University’s Department of Biblical and Religious Studies will host a live and online discussion of professor Josh Reeves’ new book Redeeming Expertise: Scientific Trust and the Future of the Church Feb. 1 at 7:30 p.m. (central time).
In the book, Reeves argues against a popular conception of Christians as science-deniers. He offers a sympathetic account of the average Christian in the pew and explains the reasons why skepticism toward mainstream science is compelling to many conservative Christians, but he also proposes a uniquely Christian defense of taking scientific expertise seriously as part of a healthy intellectual life and process of discernment.
Scholars Hannah Eagleson of InterVarsity Emerging Scholars Network and Ken Keathley of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary will offer responses at the event, and audience questions are encouraged.
