Samford University journalism student Yvonne Thomas has been selected to attend the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Multimedia Short Course at North Carolina A&T State University March 18-21.
During the all-expenses-paid course, the Nashville, Tenn., native and other students will produce a newscast, webcasts, podcasts, video slide shows and related social media sites. They will be instructed by NC A&T faculty and experienced industry reporters, news directors, producers, videographers and graphic designers.
“I'm so happy to attend the short course and to represent a department that has given so much to me,” Thomas said.
“I am extremely proud of Yvonne's work as a broadcast journalist on Samford News Network,” said Journalism and Mass Communication Department chair Bernie Ankney. “She's also won nearly every academic recognition Samford offers and this award is a recognition of her tremendous accomplishments.”
In addition to her academic accomplishments, Thomas serves as a Samford Ambassador.
