Samford's debate team completed a very successful trip to the University of Kentucky and took second place and third place in the novice division. Freshmen debaters Ashley Herring and Ella Oxley won 5 of their 6 preliminary debates to take 2nd place at the tournament.  Sophomore debaters Aaron Atwell and Marly Davis placed 3rd at the tournament. Davis took second speaker, Atwell was named fourth speaker, Oxley won eighth speaker, and Herring was ninth speaker. The squad racked up wins against Clarion University, the US Naval Academy, Missouri State and West Georgia University. Freshman Ann Le, sophomore Will Higgins, and junior Natalie Bennie also competed for Samford. The squad has next weekend off before we debate again on our home territory at the Samford University tournament October 17th-19th.
