Samford's Sociology Club will host two events next week focused on anti-gay bullying and being LGBT or an LGBT ally in the south.

The club will present speakers Patty Rudulph, Executive Director of Parents & Families of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) Birmingham and Covenant Community Church pastor J.R. Finney, at 3 p.m. April 15 in Chapman Hall room 315. Convo credit is available for this event.

On April 19 the club will observe the National Day of Silence and host an information table on Ben Brown Plaza 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

The National Day of Silence is a day of action in which students across the country vow to take a form of silence to call attention to the silencing effect of anti-LGBT bullying and harassment in schools.

Founded in 1996, the Day of Silence has become the largest single student-led action towards creating safer schools for all, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.
