Samford University's Howard College of Arts and Sciences will host a residential summer camp June 22-25 for high school students who feel called to the practice of law. J.D. Calling will build on the success of the college’s M.D. Calling summer program, which will run concurrently with the new offering.

J.D. Calling participants will participate in a mock trial, meet with attorneys, judges and current law students, explore academic majors and learn tips for college and law school applications. Participants also will enjoy a host of legal-themed games and activities.

“Students will leave camp with a better understanding of the law, familiarity with the federal and state court systems, improved public speaking and analytical reasoning skills and a greater understanding of what a career practicing law looks like,” said J.D. Calling organizer and political science professor Marissa Grayson.

Grayson, who also directs Samford’s pre-law program, said the cost of the four day program, including tuition, room and meals, is $350.

Registration will open early in the new year.
