Samford will host a multimedia musical exploration of the “Ingredients of Excellence” with influential Christian author Andy Crouch Thursday, Aug. 2 at 7 p.m. in the university’s Brock Recital Hall. Andy Crouch is a dynamic and creative musician, producer, minister, editor and author of Culture Making: Recovering Our Creative Calling, winner of Christianity Today’s 2009 Book Award for Christianity and Culture, and named one of the best books of 2008 by Publishers Weekly, Relevant, Outreach and Leadership. He serves on the governing boards of Fuller Theological Seminary and Equitas Group, a philanthropic organization focused on ending child exploitation in Haiti and Southeast Asia. He is also a member of the editorial board of Books & Culture, a senior fellow of the International Justice Mission’s IJM Institute, and a member of the Board of Advisers for the John Templeton Foundation.The event is the culmination of the two-day Church Media Institute at Samford, which Crouch will help lead. All ticket proceeds will support the 2012 Church Media Institute.
