David Chapman, Dean of Samford University's Howard College of Arts and Sciences and Tatyana Karaman, Samford's Associate Vice President for Decision Support and Financial Strategy, met with officials from six Chinese universities during a special recruiting trip March 2-8.
Chapman and Karaman traveled to the cities of Beijing, Tianjin, Yantai and Wuhan to promote student and faculty exchange relationships between Samford and Tsinghua University, Nankai University and Yantai University--some of China's most prominent universities. Tsinghua University in Beijing hosted Chapman and Karaman at a special dinner during their visit.
Samford hopes to recruit as many as 25 Chinese students next year. “Chinese students are eager to travel to the United States,"Chapman said, "and we believe that hosting international students enhances the global experience of all students at Samford.”
