Samford University’s World Languages and Cultures department received several prestigious honors from the Alabama Association of Foreign Language Teachers at the organization’s recent meeting in Huntsville. Samford alumna Vicki Alvis, who was recently named Outstanding Secondary Teacher by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese, was the keynote speaker. French professor Dr. Heather West was elected president of the organization, while Spanish professor Dr. Millicent Bolden was awarded the title of Outstanding Post-Secondary Teacher. Samford alumna Heather Chynoweth was selected as Promising New Teacher.
