Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Yolene Destin Barreau permanently moved to Birmingham in 2005. She holds a master’s degree in Forensic Accounting from Strayer University. Prior to moving to the States, Yolene worked for fifteen years in Haiti in the Internal Audit and Accounting fields. For almost ten years, she was the President of the Alumni Association of  "Collège Marie Dominique Mazzarello," one of the  Salesian Congregation schools in Haiti.

She is a Senior Retail Underwriter at CSL Financial and is the tutor for Creole 101-202 in the Critical Languages Program and the founder and president of the Haitian American Association of Alabama, a non-profit organization dedicated to showcasing Haitian culture and enriching the lives of Haitian-American students living in the United States.  She is also a co-host for the program "Haitian Connection" at Radio Concorde.  In her spare time, Yolene likes to spend quality time with her family, reading, and walking.
