Alice Butler holds a Master of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy, a Bachelor of Music in Piano Pedagogy, and a Bachelor of Arts in Voice from the University of Montevallo. Butler has served as collegiate faculty at the University of Montevallo, where she taught college courses in music literature, piano pedagogy, and class piano. She also served as the Director of Preparatory Music and staff accompanist. In addition to currently teaching piano at the Academy of the Arts, Butler is the Director of Music at Rocky Ridge Church in Vestavia. Butler is an experienced classroom music teacher; however, her primary area of expertise is teaching private and group piano lessons to students of all ages—preschool, school age, college, and adult. Her students regularly participate in various piano events and competitions. Many of her students have been named winners in state and local competitions and have gone on to study music in college and attain various careers in music. Butler has served on the executive board of the Alabama Music Teachers Association as 2nd Vice President and as State Auditions Chairman. She has also held numerous positions with the Birmingham Music Teachers Association and the Alabama Federation of Music Clubs.
